JAMES RIZZI – In The Spirit of Peace
New Yorker James Rizzi (1950–2011) was one of the most renowned artists in the USA. His popular art also made its mark on the international stage. As a Pop Art artist and painter, he skilfully combined a wide variety of elements and staged them to great effect. In his loft studio in SoHo, at the invitation of VisibleWall, he reflected on the Berlin Wall and has now delighted many collectors with his very personal peace motif, IN THE SPIRIT OF PEACE, which he dedicated to the German people.
On 21st May 2010, the exhibition ‘RIZZIS WELT’, the world’s largest retrospective of the New York Pop Art artist, opened at the Bremen Exhibition Centre. Alongside numerous paintings and drawings by the artist, the exhibition featured a large model of the aeroplane he designed, as well as a painted VW Beetle.
It also featured the original Wall piece, IN THE SPIRIT OF PEACE, created in collaboration with VisibleWall. The original wall piece has become part of a private art collection and is no longer for sale.
